Woman ‘gutted’ as balloon with £100 in tenners tied to it for her birthday blows away

A woman who was gifted a balloon with £100 tied to it for her birthday watched in horror as it blew away never to be seen again.

Nikki Walker was celebrating her 37th birthday with a BBQ in Glasgow when her mum presented her with the balloon with a streamer of tenners attached to it.

When Nikki, of Pollok, opened the box, the balloon escaped and flew off into the distance.

She told the Daily Record : “There were £100 in £10 notes attached to the balloon, it is just my luck.

“My sister came over to the family barbecue with my gifts and gave me the balloons.

“She said that one needs opened and I just opened right away and it flew right out the box.

“I can’t stop laughing about it now but it is my poor we mammy I’m thinking about now.

“She’s seeing the funny side also and saying it would only happen to me.

“I’m just wanting to know how far it has travelled.

“I was going to use my birthday money as spending money for my trip to Loch Long on Tuesday.”

After Nikki’s Facebook post about her birthday blunder went viral, some kind Scots took pity on her and created a GoFundMe page to get her birthday cash back.
