An error message on Facebook read: “Sorry, something went wrong.
“We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
While Instagram said: “Oops, an error occurred.”
Independent outage monitor Down Detector registered a huge spike in Facebook down reports, with tens of thousands of reported issues.
Social media users have been left frustrated by the outage with many turning to Twitter, though even that had problems being reported.
