Charing Cross station evacuated with police warning about ‘suspicious package’

Charing Cross station has been evacuated as police warn of a “suspicious package”.

Officers said they are responding to the incident at a commercial property in Villiers Street in central London.

As a precaution, a number of buildings – including Charing Cross – have been evacuated and roads have been closed, police said.

Southeastern confirmed there will be no train services to and from Charing Cross until further notice while officers deal with the incident.

The London Underground station at Charing Cross has also been evacuated and trains will not stop there.

City of Westminster Police said in a statement: “Officers are responding to reports of a suspicious package at a commercial property in Villiers Street, WC2.
