Builder who won £105m EuroMillions jackpot buys £4.5m estate – and will do it up himself

A builder who scooped a £105million jackpot has swapped his terraced house for a sprawling country estate – but promises to do all the DIY work himself.

Steve Thomson, 43, has finally moved into the impressive pile his wife Lenka, 42, and three children more than a year after his 2019 win.

They were staying in their £150,000 three-bedroom home in Sesley, West Sussex during the wave of national lockdowns imposed amid the Covid pandemic.

But their new 14.5-acre estate, which boasts a swimming pool, tennis court and party barn, is seven times the size of an average UK property.

Neighbours near the imposing 7,000 sq ft farmhouse in Kent include Hollywood actors, rockstars and an IT tycoon, The Sun reports.

Among its features are two kitchens, six bedrooms, five reception rooms and a games room, two lakes and stables.

Steve admits the win is still sinking in – and to keep his feet on the ground the former conservatory fitter has vowed to renovate the place himself.

He said: “The kids have finally got their own bedrooms. It’s a simple thing but it was all they ever wished for.

“I still haven’t got over what happened to us and am honestly still trying to process it still. It feels like yesterday we were in our old lives — it will take a little while to adjust.

“We are very lucky to be in this place but there’s a lot of work that needs doing, so I’ll be focusing on that for the time being.”

One of Steve’s first purchases after hitting the jackpot was a secondhand van for himself followed by a Volvo XC90 for Lenka.

He even carried on working to complete outstanding building jobs he’d committed to before the win.
